Faces and Then Some

Trying to use my sketchbook more and more, and for more different things, and think of every page as less of a piece-space and more of just space to play around.

And some more playing around with expressions. I think I'm going to use this character for something in the near future.

Veves and Colors

Experimenting with some different things this time around.

Veves are inscriptions written in powder (salt, flour, rice, gunpowder, whatever) on a flat, horizontal surface, used in Haitian voodou to call the attention of one of the hundreds of Haitian gods, called "loa"s. Haitian veves are as varied as the loas they call and so far I haven't found any discernable pattern in how they're made.

So naturally I tried to make up some myself.

Also a self portrait, kind of showing off three different aspects of yours truly's personality:

I'll put up a color version of this once I'm done with it.

Also a quick attempt at doing accurate anatomy off the top of my head:

5 Days A Stranger

If you haven't heard of this game series, give it a look.

A throwback to the old days of point and click adventure games, and made with game making software Adventure Gaming Studio, the "John Defoe" series by Yahtzee Croshaw is, in short, pretty damn well made.

The games form a "quadrilogy", a series of four beginning with "5 Days A Stranger", and can be found here: http://www.fullyramblomatic.com/games.htm

Needless to say these particular sketches are characters from that series.
